Beginning Steps To Installing a Youth Football Offense
By FirstDown PlayBook on Jul 17, 2019

FirstDown PlayBook loves to talk about football plays. That’s because here at FirstDown PlayBook we love football plays and schemes. Other than the players themselves, we consider this to be the most important part of football. Face it, no play equals no game.

Having said that, football plays need to have a rhyme and reason when you install them. As a youth football coach one of the most important things you are going to have to consider on offense is the formations that you are going to use and what plays are you going to run from those formations.

We have talked a lot about how important it is to build your youth football offense on a just a few formations. You do not need to have a lot of formations to have a good youth football offense.

You should look for formations that fit your personnel and not just what you know or ran in high school. It goes further than that too. Choosing the right formation for your youth football team is only a part of the process.

Once you have settled on a formation or two, now you will want to begin to decide on what football plays you will run from those formations. This video is from last year but we think it does a good job of explaining how to go about the process of choosing which plays to run from your youth football formations.

The 2019 season is right around the corner and remember, this year you get to edit all of the FirstDown PlayBook plays making your life a ton easier. Enjoy the video!
