Free Safety Fire Zone Rules
By FirstDown PlayBook on Nov 29, 2018

No one likes a well drawn football play any more than FirstDown PlayBook. That’s why we go through the pain staking process of not only drawing plays, defenses and special teams schemes better than anyone else but we also take the time to draw up all of the variations and adjustments for our FirstDown PlayBook coaches.

If you are a FirstDown PlayBook coach you know it does not stop there. We also take the time to provide you with detailed coaching points and player assignments. Why do we do this? Well first of all because we can. Meaning there are actual football coaches drawing this up and not someone with a tech background who watches football on Saturday.

It’s deeper than that though. FirstDown PlayBook understands that, as important as a visual diagram is when it comes to teaching a football play, defense or special teams scheme, it is also critical to have sound and simple rules. As all good football coaches know, the more times you can use the words “Always” and “Never” with your rules the better off you and your players are going to be.

In other words give your players a chance to get lined up quickly and correctly so that when the ball is snapped they are not thinking as much as they are playing football and using the technique and fundamentals you have taught them. Simple rules for every position on your offense, defense or special teams unit are necessary for this to happen and allow your players to play fast.

Today’s short video does two things. It details out a very effective third down pressure that we call Frenzy Fire Zone while at the same time giving a good example of how a defensive pressure that looks so exotic can be made simple to all eleven of your players on defense by giving every player definitive concise rules.

FirstDown PlayBook is the only Digital Football PlayBook that gives you access to over thirty five thousand football plays, schemes and technique help all designed by coaches and players with NFL experience. FirstDown Playbook is also the official PlayBook resource of USA Football and Football Canada..

On January 6, 2019 FirstDown PlayBook is going to hand the chalk back to you, the coach. You will finally have the capability of editing our database of plays, which should be pushing 40,000 by then, as well as create your own plays. Want it first and for less? Bang on the football to your left to learn how.
