Six Man Football OC’s Thrive On Creativity!

By FirstDown PlayBook on Aug 28, 2020

When FirstDown PlayBook started our venture into six man football last year we really had no idea what we were getting into. I mean, essentially it’s about half the number of players as an eleven man football team, right? How different or complex can it be?

FirstDown PlayBook quickly got taken to school by some of the best six man football coaches in the country. We learned that this game not only requires knowing some different rules but there is more to it than that.

After our year of installing the six man football plays we would say that the number one requirement of an offensive coordinator is that they be creative. All of your players on offense are eligible to do multiple things. This surprised us a little when we started drawing these plays up.

We have the obvious advantage of being able to lean on experts in this area. Some of the best 6 man football coaches in Nebraska and Texas have spent their time with us on this project. Without them, it would have taken us a lot more time.
