Trick Plays Come Off Of Your Base
By FirstDown PlayBook on Nov 12, 2017

When it comes to running a trick play the element of surprise is always a big part of the equation, but how you get the defense to that point where they are surprised and out of position is really the secret sauce to making a trick play work.

In other words most successful trick plays come off of a play that an offense has run a lot and has run well. The defense is used to seeing this base play and has practiced stoping it to such a degree that the offense knows how the defense will react when they see the play beginning to develop.

Here’s an example of this as we break down one of our trick plays that we installed yesterday.
