Youth Football Motion To Unbalanced Edge
By FirstDown PlayBook on Sep 12, 2019

The use of unbalanced formations is becoming so popular in football that it is almost the norm. Offenses understand that lining up in these oddball formations force a defense to know the rules of football. Unbalanced formations also force a defense to communicate.

This communication can’t always just be with the teammate next to you either. Often times what is an alert on one side of a formation is a tip that the other side of the formation has ┬ásomething weird about it too.

For these reasons and several more, the offense can’t always predict how the defense is going to adjust to an unbalanced formation. If the unbalanced formation you line up in creates as much confusion for your offense as it does the defense then it’s a bad plan. Today we detail one youth football unbalanced formation play for you complete with coaching points.

THIS PLAY IS RUN OUT OF AN UNBALANCED OR HEAVY FORMATION.

THIS FORMATION CAN BE RUN ONE OF TWO WAYS:

THE BACKSIDE F IS ELIGIBLE FOR A PASS.

2. THE F TIGHT END CAN LINE UP ON THE STRONG SIDE BETWEEN THE NORMAL TACKLE & TIGHT END.

THE BACKSIDE TACKLE IS ELIGIBLE FOR A PASS.

THIS PLAY IS DESIGNED TO FORCE A DEFENSE TO ADJUST TO THE UNBALANCED FORMATION.
