Youth Football Unbalanced Formations & How To Defend Them
By FirstDown PlayBook on Jul 15, 2019

It can be hard enough to get your youth football team lined up against a normal offensive football formation but when an offense comes out with a tackle over or an unbalanced look it can really mess with your young players.

If you are not ready for this and you do not adjust you could end up with a totally out-manned flank or an eligible receiver with no one covering them.

FirstDown PlayBook will explore this a little more as we get closer to the season but if you are putting together your youth football defense it is important that you, as the coach, understand what your adjustments will be when facing an unbalanced formation attack.

At the higher levels of football the coaches have time to coach adjustments on defense and normally this tampers down the urge for offensive coaches to live on unbalanced formations. At the youth level, often times this is not the case. Offensive coaches line up in an unbalanced formation and the defense never adjusts.

This makes for a very long day on the defensive side of the ball. So tomorrow night for the FirstDown PlayBook Youth Football Chalk Talk, we will spend the entire webinar focusing on youth football unbalanced formations and how to line up to them. Check this video out to learn more.
