Wing T Roll Out Pass Game Install

By FirstDown PlayBook on Nov 20, 2018

Looking for the FirstDown PlayBook weekly installs? Don’t fret. They are being done but over in the brand new FirstDown PlayBook 2.0 website. You know…the one where you will be able to draw and edit your own plays as well as our 35,000 other football plays?

As we begin migrating over to our new home we are going be installing the plays there with the thought that they will already be there when you jump in starting this January. In the meantime we will still be releasing some of them on this Coaches Community website.

So as they say, please excuse our dust but trust us when we say that when the dust settles on this  football plays and football playbooks will never be the same…

Most Wing T offenses are not known for their dynamic passing game but that doesn’t mean that there are not times when they need to throw it. Also, as any offense knows, it is always a good idea to try to maintain some balance to your play calling even if you are chewing up yardage on the ground like many Wing T offenses do.

By definition, FirstDown PlayBook labels our varsity sprint pass plays as any play where the quarterback breaks contain with the ball on the perimeter to throw a pass without faking the ball the other direction. If the quarterback faked the ball one way and then bootlegged out to the other that would of course be found in the Boots & Nakeds section.

We went in this past weekend and installed several new concepts to the Wing T formations. We draw them up two ways in your playbook. One with motion and the other with just a straight traditional Wing T formation. When it comes to drawing these plays up it’s always the protection that is the most worrisome on the side away from the quarterback sprint. The edge is very vulnerable.

The good news is that often times the defensive line is not in an aggressive mind set when playing a Wing t offense because of all of the assignment football that they are forced to play. We address that a little in your short video today and we also explain why we have drawn up a slant route on the backside of many of these roll out passes as opposed to an over route.

FirstDown PlayBook is the only Digital Football PlayBook that gives you access to over thirty five thousand football plays, schemes and technique help all designed by coaches and players with NFL experience. FirstDown Playbook is also the official PlayBook resource of USA Football and Football Canada..

On January 6, 2019 FirstDown PlayBook is going to hand the chalk back to you, the coach. You will finally have the capability of editing our database of plays, which should be pushing 40,000 by then, as well as create your own plays. Want it first and for less? Bang on the football to your left to learn how.
